https://www.dallaswestend.org/dallas-west-end-celebrates-another-year-state-fair-texas/

Everything is bigger in Texas, and that phrase exists for a reason! The Texas state fair is huge, offering a multitude of games, rides, car shows, performances, crafts, pig races, and more. In addition to these fantastic reasons to visit, one of the most famous staples of the State Fair is the food. Over the years, the fair has brought some of the weirdest, yet delicious foods to the city, and this year the list sure doesn't disappoint!

The State Fair of Texas is a great reason to visit the Lone Star state, and is definitely a great reason to live in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. The fair runs from September 29 to October 22, so be sure to come on down and try out some of these NEW and noteworthy dishes!

Fried Bacon-tilla

If there's one thing in this world that almost all Texans know about, it's the taco, and if there's one meat in this world that is worth talking about, it's bacon. Take the two, mesh them together, and what do you have? A Texan's dream, that's what! This taco hybrid has bacon for a shell instead of a tortilla. I'll take two, please!

Crunchy Fried Oinkers

Okay, so when I first read the description of this food, I thought, "I cannot go the rest of my life in peace without trying this." Here's the scoop- this dish is a pork slider that is battered, fried, and served with a side of broccoli slaw. I would like to hug the person who came up with this creation.

Edible Cola

The name of this is totally weird. I wasn't sure what this was at first glance, but when I read what it was all about, I said "coooooool" out loud. It's true. What's so great about this? The cups are EDIBLE. That's right! You can drink your organic sweetened soda out of the cup and then eat the cup. The future is now!

Loaded Bacon Mashed Potato Egg Roll

Ah, yes. Another fried food to add to the list. This is like a hand held comfort food that you can take with you on the go. This fried egg roll is stuffed with bacon, mashed potatoes, and cheddar cheese, and it is served with a side of sour cream if you're a fan of dipping. Oh, and it is topped with some jalapeños for that extra kick. Can I get a yeehaw?!

Deep Fried Chicken Noodle Soup

I remember when I moved into my own place for the first time and I had no idea how to cook, so I decided to heat some oil and fry up what ever I could find in my kitchen. Yeah, definitely didn't open up the soup cabinet... this is some mad scientist level stuff right here. These chicken noodle bites are fried up and served with a side of broth for dipping. Definitely going to have to try this one out.

Funnel Cake Bacon Queso Burger

Holy heart attack, batman! This is a pretty serious burger, ya'll. Take a burger patty and douse it with bacon and queso, surround it with two fried funnel cakes, dust with powdered sugar, and you got yourself a Texas-sized meal. Zowie!

The Tamale Donut

Who doesn't like tamales, and who doesn't like donuts? This ingenious combination takes two delectable foods and meshes them together. How is it made, you ask? You take a tamale, form it into a donut using traditional masa, and fry it up to a crispy perfection. Served with jalapeño salsa for that extra bit of flavor. Yum!

Surfin' Turfin' Tator Boat

Because we are all friends here, I am going to be 100% honest with you. . .when I first saw this picture, it reminded me of something you'd see in a nightmare. The claw sticking out is a little freaky, but HOLY SMOKES! This potato is the king of all other potatoes. Bow down to it! This spud is stuffed with lobster meat, steak, and cheese, and is served with a lobster claw and a side of butter. I'd have a nightmare every night if it meant I could eat this in it.

Fernie's Fried Texas Sheet Cake

Believe me, I'm all about anything fried, and I'm all about anything cake, so if I was going to be cliché here, I would tell this dish, "you had me at hello." Hah! I just laughed out loud at my own joke. Anyways, this chocolate fudge brownie is fried and topped with Dr.Pepper icing. It's garnished with some whipped cream and a strawberry, making it appeasing to the eyes and the stomach.

Deep Fried Fruit Loops

For all my breakfast cereal lovers out there- this one is for you! Even in my amateur fry cook days, I never thought to go towards the cereal cabinet, either. These Fruit Loops are tossed with some whipped marshmallow (yum) and then fried (yum) and then topped off with glaze (yum) and powdered sugar (yum).
