City Spotlight- East Dallas

East Dallas holds some of the best and most desirable neighborhoods to live in, including the M Streets, Lakewood, White Rock, Old East Dallas, Casa View, and Lower East Dallas. It is home to some of the best restaurants, shops, schools, and more. If you're thinking about making a move into the area, here are some things to do and places to eat that may help you with your decision.

What to Do:

White Rock Lake

White Rock Lake used to be a collection of farms back in the 1800s, and it was converted into a lake in 1911. Since then, it has attracted locals from around the city to its newly renovated dog park and bike trails. If you're not into biking or running the 9.33 mile trail around the lake, you can always rent some kayaks and take them out for the day. This is also a great spot to watch the sunset, as well as get one of the most beautiful views of downtown Dallas.

The Arboretum

The Arboretum is a great place to take the family and spend the day in the outdoors. The beautiful flowers, waterfalls, and landscaping is sure to awe whoever steps into the area. You can walk around during the day to look at all of their special exhibits, or you can relax on a blanket on Thursday night where there is live music equipped with food and beverages.

Lower Greenville

Lower Greenville is one of those places in Dallas that holds some of the best restaurants in town. It is a great place to go if you want to hang out with some friends, and there are some spots that even have rooftop seating. If you're looking for any type of food, you're bound to find it on lower Greenville, along with a drink to go with it. The entire strip has been rebuilt and revamped in the past few years, so if you haven't been in a while, you'll find places to eat, a grocery store, bars, lounges, and more.

Where to Eat:

DISCLAIMER- East Dallas has some of the BEST restaurants, so these eateries are definitely not the only places you should visit. Leave your favorites in the comments!

Snuffers

Snuffers is one of those places that I've been eating at since I was a little girl, and it's as good today as it was then. This spot serves up some of the most delicious burgers, but that isn't what I've come here to talk about. Two words: cheese fries. They have the BEST cheese fries I have ever had, and if you haven't tried them, you should make a visit soon! But don't worry, it's been around since 1978, so it's not going anywhere anytime soon.

Campisi's

If you're showing friends around Dallas that haven't been in the city before, Campisi's is bound to come up as a suggestion of where to eat. This family-owned restaurant has been in business since 1946, and it's a fantastic place to go to satisfy those pizza cravings. It's dark atmosphere, juke boxes at every booth, great service, and delicious food is what has people always coming back.

Mariano's Hacienda Ranch

This place has some delicious Mexican food. Of course, Dallas has a lot of great Mexican food, but I chose this place because it always has the most fantastic service. The waiters there are friendly and the food is delectable. Oh, and did you know that the frozen margarita machine was invented in Dallas? Yes, this Mariano's is responsible for it.
