What to do

Highland Park Village

This shopping center is full of places to shop, and it is actually THE OLDEST OUTDOOR MALL IN THE UNITED STATES. Highland Park Village is home to some of the most high-quality stores, including Dior, Chanel, Cartier, Fendi, and more. It also has a multitude of amazing gift shops like Anthropologie, Market, and Kiehls. If you are wanting a high-fashion shopping experience, this is the place to go. Oh, and there is also a movie theater, too, for all you movie lovers out there.

Lakeside Park

This park is located next to Turtle Creek, and it spans around 14 acres, so there are plenty of areas to explore. The scenic views along the path are breathtaking, which makes it the perfect place to go relax with the family. You will also find waterfalls, little bridges, and big teddy bears. Yep, you read that right- there are giant teddy bear statues! All the more reason to visit.

Highland Park Christmas Carriage Rides

The town has some of the most beautiful homes in all of Dallas, which means it also has the most beautiful Christmas lights. During the winter season, you can ride a horse drawn carriage throughout the neighborhood and look at some of the most spectacular Christmas lights you've ever seen. You can make reservations online, which makes it easier to pick a date and time. What a great activity to do with the kids! If you reserve SOON through one of the multiple carriage companies, you can do this activity on Christmas Day!

Where to Eat

Highland Park Soda Fountain

This spot opened in 1912, which means it is over 100 years old! With its old-fashioned decor, delectable milk shakes, and delicious food, you're sure to come back on a regular basis. You can order a variety of sweets, including milk shakes, malts, ice cream floats, cream sodas, fresh baked cookies, ice cream sundaes, and more. Oh, and if you want some food to go along with that, you can choose from a variety of favorites like the BLT and the grilled PB&J.

Javier's Gourmet Mexicano

Javier's has some of the BEST Mexican food in all of Texas, and that's the truth! This place has been open since 1977, and it was opened by Javier himself. At this authentic Mexican food place, you can enjoy delicious food while engulfing yourself in its beautiful ambiance. With dishes like the Filete Durango and Shrimp Brochette Cozumel, you're sure to leave with a happy stomach.

Bistro 31

This French-inspired restaurant will make you think you are in France. The menu is absolutely fabulous, and the inside and outside of the restaurant is a reason in itself to visit. Here you can get food such as lobster bisque soup, poached branzino, a multitude different pasta dishes, and more.
